The Jag

As if saying goodbye to my workmates today wasn’t bad enough, I also had to bid farewell to my beloved Jag in the afternoon. Still trying to figure out which was worse. I reckon half of my 4 years wages with Elite went into the car so selling it was not such a bad thing.

When the Jag was clean and working it was a dream but when it wasn’t, it was a nightmare. Some bloke 4 doors down from me bought it which has it’s positives and negatives. The positive being that I will still get to see the car, the negative being the guy knows where I live. Maybe he might have stopped looking for me by the time I get back from South America in mid September.

Witness The Fitness

After 4 long years I finally left my job today at Elite Fitness, a week ahead of starting my travels for a few months. It was sad leaving the people I work with but the job itself had ran it's course. The one thing I won’t miss is traveling on Parramatta Road, every morning and evening, which has to be the worst road in Sydney for both traffic and potholes (not to mention the trucks which are too large for the lanes and their nutcase drivers).

I will miss Justin’s negativity and Anthony’s famous quotes, such as “Man can actually walk on water” and on Freds first visit to the office Ant asking why did I want to get a dog that looks like a worm for? His best one was when we were in a meeting and I was explaining how we were going to get a chick in to do the invoices, his brain went into overload and then asked “Why do you want to get a chicken to do the work for?” Baffling….

Anyway. To all the lads there,Justin, Ant, Shanon and Radak, cheers for making my life easier and for all the fun times that came in between all the shit and for all the work that you do which usually goes unrewarded and unnoticed. See you all when I get back.

Surry Hills Festival

This weekend the crew headed to the annual Surry Hills Festival which for the first time was moved from Crown Street down to Prince Alfred Park. It just wasn’t the same as hanging around the decking area of The Trinity but was a good day none the less.

The morning started off around in Caz and Lucy’s place for breakfast and if I am not mistaking, he is still eating the sausages now.

The park was just across the road so we headed over at about 2pm. Fred’s head was getting bigger and bigger every time some stranger asked if they could take a photo of him.

The festival finished at 5pm so Ing and Fred went home while most of us went to Beachie’s place for an hour or so where Gav’s break dancing went down well, as did Lou’s, Carla's and Beachie’s new moves.

Then the inevitable happened, and off to the Trinity we went, where we met up with Aoife and a few others.

Most people stayed untill about 10 or 11 before dropping off but a few of us went back to Beachie’s for a night cap. Unfortunately that nightcap ended at 7 in the morning for me.

Looking forward to next years event already.

A Day At The Races

Myself and Kieran had a great idea to go to the Greyhounds on Saturday night and win some money. First problem was not having a clue what we were doing and the second problem having too much money to do it with.

I tried every trick in the book, including throwing a pen at the form guide and throwing the form guide in the bin. 10 races and I didn’t pick one winner. At least Kieran got one race, but unfortunately it was the first one so he thought he was on a roll……

We did have a few winners in the group, with Gav standing out more than others. He picked a trifactor which happened to pay nearly 50/1 and had $10 on it. Do the math.. Cheers for the round of drinks mate.

Another winner was Kelly, who’s first win went something like this..
Kelly- “Dec, I asked the bookie what are those numbers beside the dogs. He told me that if that dog wins that’s how much money we pay out. So I bet on the one with most money.”
Myself, Gav and Kieran had a laugh about this as obviously there is a reason that a dog is at 10/1.
Number 6, $50 up for Kelly and 3 dumbfounded blokes later…….

The night ended in Kinsellas with me being thrown out. Conversation with the manager who was a red head chick went something like:
Me to Redhead- Excuse me, but do you read books?
Redhead to Me - I do, yes !
Me to Redhead - Have you red pubes?
Redhead to bouncers - Get that knob out of here !!!!!

Simon Says

Just to keep everyone ammused for a while, here's a game of Simon Says. I was never very good at it when I was a kid, and not much better now.

Fred !!

As it has been a year since I got Fred, I thought I’d throw a few photos of him up on my blog. For those of you that don’t know, Fred is a Shar-Pei, a breed which originated in China. Paddy reckons they cross bred a dog and a pig and sometimes I have to wonder…

Anyway, after looking for a little while for the right Shar-Pei, I came across Fred on a website and wanted him straight away. So after paying 'an undisclosed sum’ he was on the next flight from Brisbane down to Sydney where myself and Paddy were waiting at the airport.

The year has been full of ups and downs. The downs being the operations on his nose (undisclosed sum), his eyelift (undisclosed sum), the removal of his pallet and the removal of his testicals (which he claims was the worst bit). He has also had a lot of skin problems over the last few months but is on the mend once again (undisclosed sum).

The ups over shadow the downs ,one hundred fold. The joy he brings everybody especially myself and Ing, can’t be bought (well it can, but for an undisclosed sum).
